About Talarurus
Talarurus was a genus of herbivorous stegosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 126 to 100 million years ago. It was a relatively small stegosaur, with a length of about 5 meters (16.4 feet) and a weight of about 500 kg (1100 lbs). It had a distinctive row of plates running down its back and a pair of long spikes on its tail, which were likely used for defense against predators. Talarurus was discovered in Mongolia and is known from a few partial skeletons and a few isolated bones. It was named after the Greek word 'talaris,' meaning 'ankle bone,' in reference to the discovery of a well-preserved ankle bone.
