About Tarchia
Tarchia is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsian dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Mongolia. It was a relatively large dinosaur, with an estimated length of around 5-6 meters (16-20 feet) and a weight of around 2-3 tons. Tarchia was characterized by a large, distinctive frill on the back of its head, as well as a pair of large, curved horns on its nose. The function of these features is not well understood, but they may have been used for display or defense. Tarchia had a beak-like mouth and a series of small, leaf-shaped teeth that it used to bite off and chew plants. Its body was supported by four sturdy legs, and it likely had a relatively slow and deliberate movement style. Tarchia is known from several well-preserved specimens, including several nearly complete skeletons.
