About Scelidosaurus

Scelidosaurus is a genus of armored dinosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic period, approximately 199 to 190 million years ago. It was a small to medium-sized herbivorous dinosaur that measured about 4.5 meters (15 feet) in length and weighed around 1 ton. Scelidosaurus had a distinctive body shape, with a long neck and tail, a wide and robust body, and short, stocky legs. Its head was small and triangular, with a long, narrow snout. The most distinctive feature of Scelidosaurus was its armor, which consisted of large, bony plates that covered its back and tail. These plates were arranged in rows and were connected by flexible skin, allowing the animal to move freely while still providing protection against predators. Scelidosaurus was a slow-moving, ground-dwelling herbivore that likely fed on low-growing plants and shrubs.
