About Torosaurus
Torosaurus is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the late Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous Period, about 68 to 66 million years ago. It was a large, quadrupedal animal with a distinctive frill on the back of its head. The frill was adorned with long, slender, outward-curving horns, and the animal also had a pair of shorter, thicker horns on its snout. Torosaurus was closely related to other ceratopsids such as Triceratops and Styracosaurus, but it is thought to have been larger and more heavily built than these other species. It is known from fossil remains found in North America, including parts of what is now Canada and the United States. Torosaurus is thought to have been an important herbivore in the Late Cretaceous ecosystems of these regions.
