About Nothosaurus
Nothosaurus is a genus of extinct marine reptiles that lived during the Middle Triassic period, around 240 million years ago. They were part of the group known as sauropterygians, which also includes plesiosaurs and nothosaurs. Nothosaurus was a relatively small reptile, with an estimated length of around 3 meters (10 feet). It had a long, slender body with a narrow snout and a long, flexible neck. Its limbs were adapted for swimming, with elongated fingers and toes that ended in sharp claws. Nothosaurus had a pair of large, flipper-like feet that it used to propel itself through the water. It is thought to have been a predatory animal, feeding on small fish and invertebrates. Despite its small size, Nothosaurus was a successful and widespread species, with fossil specimens found in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
