About Xuwulong
Xuwulong is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 125 million years ago. It is known from a partial skeleton that was discovered in the Junggar Basin of Xinjiang, China. The genus is named after the town of Xuwu, where the fossil was found. The only species in the genus is Xuwulong yueluni.
Xuwulong was a large, long-necked dinosaur with a small head and a long, slender tail. It had four sturdy legs and walked on all fours. Its teeth were small and pointed, indicating that it probably fed on plants. The exact size of Xuwulong is not known, but it is estimated to have been about 20-25 feet (6-7.5 meters) long and weighed around 2-3 tons.
Xuwulong is known from a partial skeleton that includes some vertebrae, ribs, and limb bones. The fossils were discovered in sedimentary rocks that formed in a floodplain environment, suggesting that Xuwulong lived in a humid, tropical region. The discovery of Xuwulong and other sauropod dinosaurs in the Junggar Basin of Xinjiang, China, has helped to shed light on the diversity and evolution of sauropods in this region during the Early Cretaceous period.
