About Mononykus
Mononykus is a small, bird-like dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 90-65 million years ago. It was a member of the group of dinosaurs known as theropods, which also includes well-known species such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor. Mononykus was a lightly built animal with long, slender legs and a small body, measuring only about 3.3 feet (1 meter) long and weighing around 22 lbs (10 kg). It had a small head with large, forward-facing eyes, and a long, narrow beak that was likely used for grasping and tearing at prey. Mononykus is known for its unique adaptation: a single large claw on each hand, which may have been used for digging or for defense. Fossils of Mononykus have been found in Mongolia and China.
