About Lurdusaurus
Lurdusaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic period in what is now Portugal. It is known from fragmentary remains, including a few vertebrae and limb bones, that were discovered in the Lourinhã Formation. Lurdusaurus was a large, long-necked dinosaur that likely reached lengths of up to 20 meters (65 feet) and weighed around 20 tons. It had a small skull with large nostrils and a long, narrow snout. Its teeth were spoon-shaped, which suggests that it may have fed on soft plants such as ferns and horsetails. Lurdusaurus is classified within the group Macronaria, which includes some of the largest and most iconic sauropod dinosaurs, such as Diplodocus and Brachiosaurus.
