About Jobaria

Jobaria is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Middle Jurassic period, approximately 170 million years ago. It was a herbivorous dinosaur that belonged to the group of dinosaurs known as the sauropods, which were characterized by their long necks and tails and their large size. Jobaria was discovered in the Tendaguru Formation of Tanzania in Africa, and its fossils have been found in both Tanzania and Morocco. The genus is named after the Jobar region in Morocco, where some of its remains were found. Jobaria was a relatively small sauropod, with an estimated length of around 20 meters (65 feet) and a weight of around 20 tons. It had a long neck and a relatively short, triangular head, with long, thin teeth that were adapted for cropping and grinding plant material. It also had a small, triangular crest on its head, which may have been used for display or as a resonating chamber for vocalizations. Jobaria would have lived in herds and fed on a diet of low-lying plants and shrubs, using its long neck to reach for food.
