About Jaxartosaurus

Jaxartosaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 90 million years ago. It was a large herbivorous dinosaur that likely lived in what is now Central Asia. Jaxartosaurus was first described in 1970 based on fragmentary remains found in Kazakhstan. It is known from several partial skeletons, including a partial skull, vertebrae, and limb bones. Jaxartosaurus was a member of the Diplodocidae family, which also includes well-known dinosaurs such as Diplodocus and Apatosaurus. It had a long neck and tail, and walked on all fours using its sturdy legs. It had small, triangular teeth that were adapted for grinding plant material, indicating that it was a herbivore. Despite its size, Jaxartosaurus may have been preyed upon by larger carnivorous dinosaurs such as Tarbosaurus.
