About Janenschia
Janenschia is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived in what is now Tanzania during the Late Jurassic period, around 145-150 million years ago. It was a large herbivorous animal, with long necks and tails, and strong, pillar-like legs. Its skull was relatively short and narrow, with bony protuberances on the top of its head and at the back of its neck. It had a small, toothless beak, and its teeth were adapted for grinding plants. Janenschia is known from a single specimen, consisting of a partial skeleton, which was discovered in the Tendaguru Formation in Tanzania. It is classified as a member of the Diplodocidae, a family of sauropod dinosaurs known for their long necks and tails, and their distinctive whip-like tails.
