About Irritator
Irritator is a genus of spinosaurid dinosaur that lived during the early Cretaceous period, around 110 to 100 million years ago. It was a large, bipedal carnivore, with a long snout filled with conical teeth. It had a distinctive crest on its snout, which may have been used for display or to amplify vocalizations. Irritator was discovered in Brazil and is known from a single specimen, which includes a partial skull and lower jaw. It was originally thought to be a species of the related genus Spinosaurus, but was later recognized as a distinct genus. Some paleontologists have suggested that Irritator may be a synonym of the genus Angaturama, which is based on similar fossils from the same region of Brazil.
