About Torvosaurus

Torvosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, approximately 155 to 150 million years ago. It was a member of the theropod group, which includes all bipedal carnivorous dinosaurs. Torvosaurus was one of the largest theropods of its time, reaching lengths of up to 12 meters (40 feet) and weighing up to 4.5 metric tons. It had a long, low skull with large, sharp teeth and powerful jaw muscles, which it likely used to hunt and kill prey. Torvosaurus had long, powerful legs and arms, each ending in three sharp claws. It is thought to have been a fast runner and an agile predator, able to chase down and overpower larger prey. Fossils of Torvosaurus have been found in North America and Europe, indicating that it had a wide geographic range during the Late Jurassic.
