About Tanius

Tanius is a genus of tyrannosauroid dinosaur that lived in what is now China during the Late Cretaceous period, about 85-70 million years ago. It is known from a partial skull and skeleton found in the Junggar Basin in Xinjiang. Tanius was a medium-sized tyrannosauroid, with an estimated length of about 5 meters (16 feet). It had a distinctive snout, with a broad, flat, and elongated skull, and a row of large, sharp teeth. Tanius is thought to have been a carnivore, likely preying on smaller dinosaurs and other animals. It is known from a single species, Tanius sinensis.
