About Stegoceras

Stegoceras is a genus of herbivorous pachycephalosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 76 to 73 million years ago. It was a small, bipedal dinosaur that was characterized by its distinctive skull, which had a dome-shaped head and a thick, bony layer on the top. The dome was likely used for display or as a weapon during social interactions, and the bony layer was thought to have provided protection for the brain during head-butting behavior. Stegoceras was a herbivore, and it likely used its beaked, toothless mouth to crop and grind plant material. It had small, triangular teeth at the back of its jaw that were used for biting and tearing off pieces of plants. Stegoceras was about 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) long and weighed around 200 kilograms (440 pounds). It was found in North America and Asia.
