Description: Pleurocoelus was a genus of large, plant-eating dinosaurs that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 122-100 million years ago. It was a member of the group known as sauropods, which included some of the largest land animals that ever lived. Pleurocoelus was a relatively small sauropod, measuring about 20-30 feet long and weighing around 3-4 tons. It had a long neck and a small head, with a small, beaked mouth that was adapted for cropping vegetation. Its body was supported by four sturdy legs, and it had a long, whip-like tail that was used for balance and defense. Pleurocoelus was found in North America, and it is known from a number of well-preserved fossil specimens that have been found in Texas and Oklahoma.
