Description: Nqwebasaurus is a genus of small, carnivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic period, around 190 million years ago. It is known from a single partial skeleton found in South Africa in 2010. The skeleton includes a partial skull, partial spine, and partial hindlimbs. Nqwebasaurus was a theropod, a group of bipedal, carnivorous dinosaurs that includes well-known species such as Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor. It was a small dinosaur, with an estimated length of about 1.5 meters (5 feet). Nqwebasaurus had long, slender legs and a long, narrow skull with sharp teeth, suggesting that it was a fast runner and an active predator. Its name, Nqwebasaurus, means 'Nqweba lizard,' after the Nqweba Conservancy in South Africa where the skeleton was found. Nqwebasaurus is an important discovery because it helps paleontologists understand the evolution and diversity of early theropod dinosaurs in the southern hemisphere.
