About Mamenchisaurus
Mamenchisaurus is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, about 156 to 145 million years ago. It is known for its extremely long neck, which made up about half of its total body length. Mamenchisaurus is known from several species, including Mamenchisaurus constructus and Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum. It was a herbivore that lived in what is now China. Some species of Mamenchisaurus had longer necks than others, and it is thought that this was an adaptation to allow them to reach higher into trees to feed on leaves. The skull of Mamenchisaurus was small and narrow, with small, slender teeth that were well-suited for slicing through plant material.
